The Resona Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Foundation is a public interest incorporated foundation that aims to promote technology among small and medium enterprises and contribute to the development of Japanese industry. Together with Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, it holds an annual awards ceremony recognizing excellent new technologies and new products.

This award has two categories, the “General Category” and the “Software Category.” After strict screening, awards such as the Commissioner of the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency Award (General Category), the President of the Organization for Small & Medium Enterprises and Regional Innovation Award (Software Category), Excellence Award, Merit Award, and Encouragement Award are presented to outstanding new technologies and new products. This award system has been conducted since 1988. Over the past 37 times, a total of 12,089 applications were received, and 1,201 works have been awarded.
