Industry Alpha Launches Smart Factory and Warehouse Solutions in Vietnam

目次

Background

In recent years, Vietnam has achieved rapid economic growth with an average annual GDP increase of 8%. The country has the largest youth population, and its current population pyramid closely resembles that of Japan during its period of high economic growth.

In fact, labor costs in Vietnam have nearly tripled compared to ten years ago. Labor costs are expected to continue rising, making it difficult to maintain productivity using traditional methods.

Additionally, due to improvements in education levels among the younger generation, there is a growing trend for workers to seek employment in high-income industries such as services and IT, raising concerns about labor shortages in the manufacturing and logistics sectors.

Recognizing the urgent need to implement smart factories and warehouses to keep pace with accelerating global competition, we have commenced offering smart factory and warehouse solutions in Vietnam.

Business Description

Our company is a startup promoting smartization in the manufacturing and logistics industries. By leveraging algorithms, robotics, and AI technologies, we support our clients in improving productivity and ensuring quality through automation and labor-saving measures.

Examples of projects we have undertaken with our partners:

  • Automation of packing operations through the introduction of an automatic packing line system
  • Quality improvement in inspection processes using AI cameras
  • Simultaneous automation of picking and transportation
  • Labor-saving in manufacturing lines by combining conveyor belts and robotic arms

Traditionally, workers manually picked items, assembled boxes, and performed packing tasks. These processes have been automated using robotic arms and sensors.

As a result, it became possible to handle large volumes of goods, achieving significant reductions in labor costs.

In the inspection process, we have improved quality by introducing AI cameras into automated production lines.

Furthermore, in our efforts to smarten traditional warehouse operations such as picking and transportation, AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) autonomously move to optimized picking locations based on algorithms. The only task left for humans is to go to the AGV’s location and perform picking and inspection work.

Through our solutions, it is now possible to realize smart warehouses that significantly reduce manual labor throughout the entire workflow—from receiving to shipping.

Future Outlook

We have decided to initiate a joint development project with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in Vietnam.

Future Outlook

As a university-originated venture, we have tackled various challenges in warehouses and factories through our own initiatives. Moving forward, we will collaborate with talented students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology to address the pressing issues in Vietnam’s manufacturing and logistics sectors. By promoting smart solutions, we aim to contribute to labor-saving and operational efficiency.

Furthermore, we plan to expand our smart technology initiatives beyond Vietnam to the entire Southeast Asian region. According to a report by the United Nations Population Fund, it is projected that by 2040, some European and Asian countries will have over 30% of their population aged 65 and older. The 21st century is being referred to as the “century of aging.”

In anticipation of these demographic shifts, we will leverage the expertise and cutting-edge technology cultivated in Japan to deliver comprehensive, forward-looking solutions throughout Asia over the next decade.
