Industry Alpha, a leader in smart innovation, showcases a manufacturing line utilizing AMR and local 5G.

Report on Exhibition Participation
Industry Alpha exhibited an innovative manufacturing line integrating local 5G and autonomous mobile robots (AMR) at Wireless Japan × WTP 2023 and Interop Tokyo 2023.
Local 5G is a next-generation network that enables low latency and high-capacity communication compared to conventional networks.
At the exhibition, within NTT East Japan’s booth, a wireless manufacturing line utilizing local 5G and AMR was recreated. The demonstration featured AMRs autonomously transporting goods while AI performed visual inspections, showcasing a manufacturing line combining flexibility and advanced automation.
Through this demonstration, visitors experienced the efficient transportation process enabled by AMRs firsthand.
As a result, many customers commented that “seeing the AMR in action changed their perception” and expressed interest in advancing automation of their manufacturing lines.
Exhibited Unit
Until now, there have been few AMR units compatible with local 5G, and few projects aimed at practical implementation have been conducted. Therefore, we have developed a world-leading “local 5G-compatible AMR.”
The 5G-compatible AMR “Akatsuki” exhibited this time automates picking and transportation simultaneously, freeing workers from highly burdensome tasks.
It autonomously moves to shelves, grasps target objects, and places them at designated locations. Additionally, it is easy to introduce and does not require customization of dedicated cargo or shelves.

Local 5G × AMR
In the manufacturing and logistics industries, the integration of AMR and Local 5G is rapidly gaining attention as part of smart transformation. Until now, many AMRs in warehouses and factories have been controlled using Wi-Fi. However, Wi-Fi is prone to signal interference, making it difficult to maintain autonomous navigation accuracy and ensure communication stability.
Our “Fleet Control Module” enables centralized optimization of tasks and routes for each AMR. When combined with Local 5G, it allows large volumes of data to be transmitted and received with low latency, enabling simultaneous control of numerous AMRs without being affected by signal interference. This not only improves the precision of multi-AMR control but also facilitates coordination with upstream and downstream arm robots and conveyors.
The combination of Akatsuki and Local 5G enables efficient and effective advancement of future smart transformation.
Through such innovative efforts, Industry Alpha aims to enhance productivity and sustainable development in the manufacturing and logistics industries by providing optimal solutions to our customers.
